John was a Co-founder and President of Poorman-Douglas Corporation where he spent 27 years building a Pacific Northwest based Healthcare IT and Service Bureau company. Poorman-Douglas’ healthcare division was focused on architecting, developing, selling and supporting various software systems to medical clinics and group practices in over twenty U.S. States. Working with a number of Medical Practice Management groups, John gained an in-depth understanding through hands-on experience on the operational fundamentals involved in healthcare providers. He retired following a successful acquisition of the company by two NYSE firms. Preceding his founding of Poorman-Douglas Corporation, he spent twelve years working in a subsidiary of IBM. John has a BS in Business with a focus on Accounting, a Masters in Industrial Management and a shorter course for Chief Executives of Small Business taught at the Graduate Business Faculty at Harvard. He also took some medical courses as a premed student and worked in hospital environments while serving in the U.S. Army. John joined DPR’s Board in 2012.
Kathy Elizabeth Magliato, MD, MBA, FACSD
Kathy graduated in Medicine from Albany Medical College and Case Western Reserve, before obtaining an MBA degree from UCLA, Anderson School of Management, Los Angeles, CA. Her postgraduate training in general surgery was at Akron General Hospital. In 1993 she became a research fellow in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Michigan, followed by Residency at Loyola University, Illinois, and a fellowship at Pittsburg in heart and lung transplantation. She served as attending staff surgeon at Cedars-Sinai, Los Angeles, CA 1999-2005. She started her present appointment of Director of Women’s Cardiac Services, Department of Surgery at Saint John’s Medical center in Santa Monica,. CA. Dr. Magliato has received many honors and awards for both outstanding clinical and research in cardiac surgery. Kathy joined DPR’s Board in 2012.
